My second new BocaFoodFind this week brought me to the Town Center Mall here in Boca Raton. This is a first in the 5 plus years that I've been writing reviews that I have actually reviewed a restaurant that was located in a mall's Food Court, but there's a first for everything, isn't there?!?
The Shrimp House, with 6 locations in the U.S., all here in South Florida, originated in Brazil over 30 years ago. The concept: serve delicious shrimp, seafood and pasta meals at reasonable prices - has developed into one of Latin America's fastest growing chains. They are located in malls throughout Latin America and now, having expanded into the U.S. market, opened their first location in the Coral Square Mall in Coral Springs in December of 2013. Their plans are aggressive, with a goal of opening up a total of 98 locations in the next couple of years.
Although 80 percent of the items on the menu are shrimp dishes, The Shrimp House also offers salmon, cod, trout, tuna and other fare from the sea prepared in traditional Brazilian, Chinese and Thai styles.
This Shrimp House at the Town Center Mall in Boca and the one at the Coral Square Mall are the only two locations that offer a VIP dining area where patrons can enjoy a sit-down dining experience. Here, guests are served their meals on china plates with real silverware and glasses (compared to the plastic stuff people typically get at a food court). Courteous waiters and waitresses are there to serve the guests while they relax and enjoy a beer, wine, or even an original "sakerinha".
The VIP dining area is available for private group functions and can seat up to 36 people and has multiple built in flat screen tvs/microphones with skyping capabilities. There is no minimum food & beverage and is available to reserve with a minimum of 10 people. Contact Marketing Director Felipe Braun at fbraun@oxfordusa.com or 561-674-9999 for information on booking the room for private parties or corporate functions.
